Our Mission

The Science to Action Community (S2AC) is, and intends to remain, an informal network of organizations that came together in early 2017. The participants and partners are nonprofit organizations, science societies, academia, private companies, and state and local government.  We collaborate and share information about data preservation and access, sustained assessment of the state of climate science and management, communities on the front line of environmental impacts, science and climate policy, funding, and a variety of other related topics.

Science isn't by itself a solution, but we will not solve the world's most pressing problems without it.

Over the last 18 months, the S2AC has grown into an active community, developing projects and proposals, hosting and co-convening events, collecting and integrating diverse sources of information and more. We are dynamic and flexible and our direction is dependent on the participants of the network.

Our Stance

We are a non partisan community. We're not an advocacy organization and we don't lobby. Our philosophy is that in order for our policies to be smart, they have to be informed by credible information. We are concerned about the national trend towards ignoring scientific and high quality evidence when making policy, regulatory, and operational decisions - decisions that have real public consequences globally, nationally, and in our communities. Collectively, we are committed to producing, highlighting, and sharing the the best possible scientific and high quality information in order for business, government, and nonprofit leaders to make the most appropriate decisions.
